Portraiture
photographs are an ideal medium where the Rules of Composition can be
broken and smashed. The general rule is to have the subject off center, both vertically and horizontally. The most pleasing is to have the subject in the left half of the field of view looking toward the right and slightly up or down. ![]() Santa Claus ![]() King of the Roost |
![]() Notice there is plenty of room to move the subject up, or down, left and right. Sometime this rule can be reversed. It all depends on the principle point of interest and what you want to convey to the viewer. ![]() Yes, Grandma ![]() Jonathan |
