Composition
in art comes in many different forms. Perhaps the most pleasing
to the eye is where curves gently lead the eye to the principle point
of interest. Curves can begin in any of the 9 rectangles of the Rule of Thirds, and end in any other rectangle. The important thing to remember is the invisible line gently lead the eye to your point of interest. ![]() Notice how the curves pass from one area into another without intersecting the center of the field of view. There has been no direction of flow for the curves, however, it is considered best to begin the flow from left to right. |
Some examples of curved composition.![]() The curves move the eye gently from the bottom left corner up to the Stamen of each flower. ![]() The gentile curve of the hill top leads the eye to the lone tree and onto a person at the top. ![]() These curves lead in two different directions, but do not cause confusion in viewing the Orange slices. |
